Combined, our trainers have over 85 years of equestrian experience. That’s a lot of time in the tack!
Barn Manager and Head Trainer
Lucia’s passion for horses began with her first lesson at age six, when she learned the intimate connection between horse and rider. By the age of 13, she was learning firsthand the discipline and dedication the horse industry requires by working as a barn hand and training ponies. As an FEI groom and manager, Lucia apprenticed under five-time Olympian Anne Kursinski, three-time Pan American and Olympic Games competitor Lauren Hough and Olympic Gold Medalist Laura Kraut.
As Barn Manager and Head Trainer for Rockleigh Equestrian Centre, Lucia oversees every aspect of our horses’ care. She develops an individualized program for each of our horses from feeding protocols to training and exercise regimens, ensuring they reach top competitive fitness. She oversees the training of all our riders, working with them to set goals and establishing a training schedule designed for success.
When not “on duty," Lucia enjoys showing her horse Logan and spending time with her daughter, Ofelia.
Co-barn Manager and Trainer
Casey began riding at a young age and developed her skills competing in saddleseat equitation. Today, Casey serves as both a trainer and business manager for R.E.C. She enjoys teaching students of all levels while participating in the overall care of our horses.
During her time off, you’ll find Casey still at the barn with her horse - Backdraft, riding the cross country course or exploring the trails adjacent to the farm.
Jenna started her long love affair with horses at the age of seven. Growing up, she supported her riding habit by working in local barns, training horses and doing her share of the farm chores. While studying at college, Jenna competed regularly as a member of the Bloomsburg University Equestrian Team, showing over 20 times a year through the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. At R.E.C., Jenna teaches riding and horsemanship skills to both novice and experienced riders. She is also instrumental in our training program, ensuring all of our horses are at their peak performance.
She holds a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy and plans to become certified in equine rehabilitation. Jenna looks forward to working with OTTB's in their transition off of the racetrack and into a new discipline.
Groom and Instructor
Vanessa began riding as a six-year-old and competed in horse shows for nearly 10 years. Her tremendous love of horses has served her well in her role as instructor and groom at R.E.C.
In addition to the responsibility of the daily care and feeding our horses, Vanessa assists the barn managers in exercising the horses and teaching the fundamentals of riding and horsemanship to our younger riders.
Groom and Instructor
Rachel began her time in the saddle at the age of eight and was so taken by the sport that she began caring for two horses of her own by the time she was 14. Rachel studied at Meredith Manor International Equestrian College, where she achieved the level of Riding Master III and a Level One Training Certification. As a working student at Castle Gate Farm in Ocala, Florida, Rachel honed her skills working with both Off the Track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs) and warmbloods. She enjoys developing a personal connection with her students and helping them achieve their riding goals.
